Remote Desktop Access Configuration (GNOME Desktop)
To access the GNOME desktop remotely, ensure TCP port 3389 is open within your Azure Network Security Group (NSG).
- Log in to the Azure Portal
- Go to your Virtual Machine settings
- Select: Networking > Network Security Group (NSG)
- Under Inbound Port Rules, verify TCP 3389 is allowed
- If not present, add a new rule:
- Port: 3389
- Protocol: TCP
- Source: Any
- Action: Allow
- Priority: 1000
- Name: Allow-RDP
After this rule is in place, connect to the GNOME desktop via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) / Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) by using your Azure VM User name and Password.
