The RHEL 7 ELS offering provides access to security patches and updates after June 30, 2024. This offering is intended for customers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 VMs in Azure and want to continue to receive security patches and updates for those VMs beyond the RHEL 7 end of maintenance date (June 30, 2024). The cost of this offering is based on the number of virtual CPUs (vCPUs) used per hour. For more information: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Maintenance Policy.

Compared to previous major releases, Extended Life Cycle Support (ELS) for RHEL 7 expands the scope of security fixes by including updates that address important Common Vulnerabilities and Exceptions (CVEs). It also includes maintenance for RHEL for SAP Solutions (including S4/HANA) and RHEL High Availability and Resilient Storage add-ons.

• RHEL 7 ELS will be available through June 30, 2028
• To enable accurate metering and billing, please ensure that every Azure account containing a RHEL 7 VM that will be using ELS is subscribed to this offering.
