Bechtle Azure FinOps Review details both your current and previous spend (up to 12 months). Once completed, our team will present a detailed report that highlights all the areas where cost savings can be made, as well as a physical copy of the assessment that has been carried out
What criteria is covered in the Bechtle FinOps review?
Virtual Machine optimisation:
This pertains to VM Right-Sizing where we would ensure the VM SKU currently
being utilised to peak efficiency or if an alternate VM SKU would be better suited.
IDLE and over-sized:
IDLE resources would look into your storage account and see if the storage layer selected meets the iOPS currently being utilized. Should you for instance have premium SSD disks selected but running extremely low iOPS would a normal HDD disk be better suited for the use case.
Zombie resources:
Azure zombie resources are cloud resources that are no longer in use but remain active and consuming resources, resulting in unnecessary charges. Zombie resources can occur when cloud resources are not adequately decommissioned or deleted or when resources are left running but are no longer needed.
Azure reserved instances:
Azure Reservations help you save money by committing to one-year or three-year plans for multiple products. Committing allows you to get a discount on the resources you use. Reservations can significantly reduce your resource costs by up to 72% from pay-as-you-go prices. Reservations provide a billing discount and don’t affect the runtime state of your resources. After you purchase a reservation, the discount automatically applies to matching resources. You can pay for a reservation upfront or monthly.
Hybrid benefit:
Azure Hybrid Benefit enables commercial customers to use their qualifying onpremises licenses to get Windows virtual machines (VMs) on Azure at a reduced cost. This article focuses on the benefits of using qualifying Windows Server licenses to get cost savings for Windows Server VMs in Azure, Azure Stack HCI, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) hybrid deployments.
UAT and DEV:
We would look at the UAT and Dev currently being used and see if Azure DevOps accounts and discounts can be applied.
