In today’s fast-paced, data-driven world, informed decision-making is a fundamental requirement for innovation and excellence. Therefore, Microsoft Fabric offers a holistic end-to-end SaaS solution for scalable data engineering, data science, real time data analysis, and visual reporting with integrated tools such as Power BI. By providing no-code and low-code as well as more sophisticated, programmatic options for the implementation of data workflows and reporting dashboards, Microsoft Fabric is the perfect end-to-end solution for business users as well as for data professionals. It empowers organizations to break down silos, to enhance collaboration and democratization, and to unlock the full potential of their data.
What is Microsoft Fabric?
Microsoft Fabric is an end-to-end analytics platform that unifies all the tools that organizations need for aggregating, processing, analyzing and visualizing data in a scalable and easily accessible way. By integrating features of Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics as well as tools like Power BI into a single product, Fabric empowers its users to unlock the full potential of their data and lays the foundation for innovation based-on knowledge and artificial intelligence. Cutting edge AI integration offered by Microsoft Copilot as well as the availability of comprehensive real-time intelligence features make it a highly flexible and adaptable platform.
Workshop Overview
In this one-day hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to leverage Microsoft Fabric's integrated features to connect to heterogeneous data sources in order to make them available for processing and analysis in Microsoft Fabric. Subsequently, we introduce different possibilities for data processing and refinement with the goal to prepare it for visualization and reporting. This will be demonstrated by utilizing Power BI for the creation of expressive dashboards and reports. Thereby, your analysis workflows can be scaled easily and cost-efficient, while existing data management is optimized sustainably.
Workshop Objectives
The target audience of this hands-on workshop are Power BI Users that are new to Fabric and look at its possible integration into their existing workflows in order to boost their efficiency and productivity. By the end of this workshop, participants:
- can identify specific scenarios where Microsoft Fabric unlocks new value
- will be able to access different data sources in order to make them available in Microsoft Fabric (e.g., Excel, databases, APIs, files in folders, etc.)
- can differentiate between individual options for data processing and refinement in Microsoft Fabric (e.g., notebooks, pipelines, Dataflows, Power Query, etc.)
- can seamlessly access entities managed by Microsoft Fabric, such as tables, semantic models, or APIs, and utilize them efficiently in Power-BI
- access predefined data models from Fabric and/or implement/define their own
- are able to implement measures in Power-BI with DAX
- can visualize their data in Power BI reports and dashboards
Moreover, this workshop will function as an open forum for participants to ask individual questions and discuss additional features of Microsoft Fabric. On request, it is also possible to customize the topics of this workshop with additional, user specific content blocks.
