Reads is a scientific and technological solution that helps companies and investors credibly measure, value and manage their environmental and social impacts. It combines internationally recognized methodologies with cutting-edge technology to drive strategic, data-informed decisions.


Reads was developed in collaboration with technology companies, non-governmental organizations, universities, and consulting firms specializing in sustainability and ESG. It is based on the Natural Capital Protocol and its Biodiversity Guidance, incorporating the framework defined by ISO Standard 14008:2019 on the monetary valuation of environmental impacts and aspects, as well as the LEAP approach of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).


The valuation and accounting method follows a tiered approach, phases:

  1. Identify environmental aspects on biodiversity, climate, water, pollution, social well-being.
  2. Quantify impacts in biophysical units (tonnes, hectares, cubic meters, species, decibels).
  3. Valuate impacts: gains or losses in monetary terms (USD), or custom metrics like Impact Units.
  4. Manage impacts by applying the mitigation hierarchy (Avoid, Reduce, Restore, Offset) with cost-benefit analysis.
