What do you dislike about the product?
While the software is highly capable, the advanced features and custom scripting can be complex, requiring time and effort to master. Additionally, it is resource-intensive, necessitating robust hardware for large simulations. These factors can pose challenges but are also indicative of the software’s powerful capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simcenter STAR-CCM+ is solving complex fluid dynamics and heat transfer problems, crucial for aerospace engineering. It allows for detailed analysis and optimization of aerodynamic performance, which benefits the design and development process by reducing the need for physical prototypes and enabling faster, more accurate engineering decisions.
In a lot of areas and it is easy to use such as meshing and it runs/solves pretty fast. It also does have a capability to complete a diverse series of analysis. Overall a good software.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that there is overall a good amount of references and documentation, but training on the software and help videos could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thermal behavior of engine and how it affects surrounding structures.
Modeling and analysis and gives analysis results of fluid through porous membranes as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Inconsistent meshing, lacks a bit with details.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fluidi flow through porous members, gives analysis details how the flow effect the parts along the flow and change the designs according to the results.
Very robust and logical structure, minimalistic interface, great product documentation and support. Abundance of features and physic phenoma to simulate and evaluation tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very complicated for a newbie, needs years of learning. Worth it, though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The field functions are extremely powerful way to automate inputs. They also allow you to tackle custom problems in an easier way
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no clear distinction on when a field function cannot be used and a parameter is required. It only tells you that it does not work but the user does not really know why or what to use instead
