Teradata Data Stream Controller (DIY) provides administrative functions and metadata storage for the Data Stream Utility and is a key component of the backup and restore of Teradata VantageCloud and Teradata Database systems using Azure infrastructure.

Teradata Data Stream Controller is an administrative server required to enable the Data Stream Utility for object-level backup and restore of Teradata VantageCloud. It contains a private repository for all backup and restore job definitions and as well as related configuration details for Teradata VantageCloud systems and backup targets.

The Data Stream Utility, a client application installed on each Teradata VantageCloud instance, enables object-level, parallel backup and restore of Teradata databases directly to low-cost Azure Blob storage. The Data Stream Utility Viewpoint portlet provides the day-to-day interface for creating backup or restore jobs through a simple to use web-based interface.
